Journeys to the Deep

We journey DEEP into the forest.

We journey DEEP in the sea.

We journey DEEP into research.

We journey DEEP in thoughts.

We journey DEEP into a cave.

We journey DEEP into our feelings.

We journey DEEP in search of new meaning.

We journey DEEP into politics, spirituality, theology, culture, and philosophy.

We journey DEEP into the mountain.

We journey DEEP into friendships.

We journey DEEP into people’s lives.

Why do we embark into the DEEP?

We live and struggle through

  • emptiness,
  • inadequacies,
  • boredom,
  • “Same ole, same ole”,
  • regression,
  • diminished resources, and
  • anaemic growth.

Why?

There are

  • overcrowded cities,
  • dysfunctional families,
  • unhealthy work environment,
  • toxic relationships,
  • psychologically stifling “spaces”,
  • abusive and oppressive relationships, and
  • exclusive policies or behaviour.

Then, it’s time to move on;

  • the inner spirit beckons us into the DEEP, to leave shallow ‘waters’,

to find

  • something NEW,
    • something CHALLENGING,
    • something DIFFERENT,
    • something REFRESHING.

But,

this journey, at least the initiative,

            is “The Road Less Travelled,”

because FEAR is the jail that imprisons.

This journey,

A lonesome journey into solitude,

because “many fear the cave that holds the TREASURE” (Joseph Campbell),

the TREASURE of NEWNESS.

PRAYER is a call into the DEEP. When we have fished all night and reaped empty nets, the Lord beckons us, “Go into the DEEP.”
