Covers,
Outsides,
These are only a start.

They are
Attractive,
Beautiful,
Alluring,
Enticing, 
Yet, unsatisfying.

We adore
Surfaces,
Appearances,
Covers,
Outsides,
Only for brief moments.

We are created with a restless drive 
to move past surfaces,
to explore beyond the appearances,
to flip cover pages,
to journey beyond the outside.

What if there’s
anaemic substance beyond 
surfaces,
appearances,
covers, and
outside?

We
abandon,
move on,
change,
continue searching.  

Sometimes we 
hold fast,
stay,
cling,
possess,
hoping to find nectar in attractive flowers,
but there’s none, absolutely none.

The inevitable gazes at us.
