Like shifting sand grains,
sometimes violently,
other times gently,
lifted, swirled and deposited
by waves of circumstances,
life is restless, reckless, and restive.
From conception,
life is unstill, unstable, unpredictable,
constantly moving from space to space,
like nomadic desert travellers
resting only at nights.
There’s the shifting sand of
birth,
family dynamics,
friendships,
growth,
community,
nature,
ageing,
emotions,
politics,
religion,
thoughts…
triggering frustrations, tiredness, and vulnerability.
But wait!
Sand grains perennially hold hands,
forming beaches upon which
beachgoers chill,
crabs make homes,
turtles lay eggs,
seashells live eternally,
sargasso grass appears on the beach,
beach comers play sports,
fish vendors profit.
Sands of life,
shifts, swirls and shivers.
Glued together
by sacrificial love
a commitment to bond together for the common good.
“. . . There are three things that last: faith, hope, and love; and the greatest of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13).
