Vulnerability

Vulnerability is a “clothes-less” newborn -
helpless
fragile
at risk
transparent
feeble
naked
honest
innocent
weak.
(Let us pray for the vulnerable unborn and the aged.)

Like a flowering plant, clothing
protects
enhances
affirms
celebrates
promotes
values
covers nakedness.
(Let’s pray for the newborn and the sick.)

Sometimes,
Clothing ensues because we are afraid,
afraid of
misperception
misunderstanding
abuse
manipulation
mistreatment
exclusion.
(Let’s pray for abused children, migrants, and those physically or mentally challenged.)

Other times,
We forcefully de-clothe, desiring
power
control
popularity
fame
honour
status
prestige.
(Let’s pray for all despotic political, religious, and community leaders.)

We de-clothe, making people
homeless
family-less
friendless
landless
education-less
food-less
dignity-less
lifeless
freedom-less
clothes-less
community-less.
(Let’s pray for the people of Haiti, Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, Miramar, and Indigenous people.)

In vulnerability
Three options are in optical view:
hide away in nakedness, adorn the clothes of pretence, or
fight for the dignity of re-clothing in the public square.

Missionary Challenge:
Standing vulnerably in the public square of Calvary
fighting for the dignity of clothing.

The Holy Week Challenge:
Walking with the vulnerable Jesus who is stripped naked in the public square of Calvary
fighting for the dignity of divine re-clothing for Adam and Eve’s children.
