Emacipation

With a clenched fist
I fight
I injure
I destroy
I oppose
I imprison
diversity, difference, and divergence of opinions and people.

I chain
openness, transparency, accountability and freedom of expression,
releasing anger, aggression, and antagonism.

With open hands
I welcome
I feel
I share
I open
I wave
I receive
I hold
I release
I play with
diversity, difference, and divergence of opinions and people.

Emancipated minds and hearts are open hands that
clap vigorously in worship,
clasp hands in prayer,
raise high in praise,
extend in adoration,
beat drums of freedom,
prepare celebratory food for festivals and feasting,
gather the assembly,
shake hands in welcome,
resist closed minds and hearts,
embrace diversity, difference, and divergence
in healthy tension.
