Like mothers giving birth from pain and suffering,Like seeds birthing new life from the dark, dirty, deep soil,Like volcanoes forming agriculturally rich islands from dusty violent eruptions,Like butterflies flying in freedom from the imprisoned spaces of cocoons,Like light emerging from darkness,The resurrection of wisdom emerges from the imprisoned tombs of our suffering.

The God of Centre Stage
I find myself captivated in the theatre of creation, where God takes centre stage, performing divine acts of creation and redemption. The audience, created by God, is meant to gaze intently upon God’s magnificent work. Yet, I cannot help but notice my human ego as a disruptive force within this audience. Instead of focusing onContinue reading “The God of Centre Stage”
Desert Rose and Preparedness
For the last four days, I have been unable to meditate in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, so I am sitting outside facing four potted plants of desert roses. Upon completing my Christian Meditation mantra, “Maranatha,” I open my eyes and gaze at the skeleton-like, almost leafless desert survivors crowned with pink flowers. EachContinue reading “Desert Rose and Preparedness”

Shifting Sands
Like shifting sand grains, sometimes violently, other times gently, lifted, swirled and depositedby waves of circumstances, life is restless, reckless, and restive. From conception, life is unstill, unstable, unpredictable, constantly moving from space to space, like nomadic desert travellersresting only at nights. There’s the shifting sand of birth, family dynamics, friendships, growth, community, nature, ageing, emotions, politics, religion, thoughts…triggering frustrations, tiredness, and vulnerability. But wait!Sand grains perennially hold hands, forming beaches upon whichbeachgoers chill, crabs makeContinue reading “Shifting Sands”
