The Evil of Unbridled Comparison

We compete,
rather than collaborate.

We think superiority,
rather than equality.

Or, we feel inferiority,
rather than equality.

We wish the worst,
rather than hope for the best.

We malign,
rather than align.

We celebrate their demise,
rather than celebrate their success.

We withhold congrats,
rather than shower praises.

We go solo,
rather than go with community.

We fight against,
rather than fight with.

We reject difference,
rather than welcome uniqueness.

We live exclusivity,
rather than embrace inclusivity.

We blame,
rather than accept responsibility.

We are always right,
the other is always wrong.

The grass is greener on my side,
than it is on yours.

We see either/or,
rather than seeing the complexities of both.

The innate wisdom of the created order lies in unique diversities. When we thrive and hold the gift of diversity in the palm of our hands, we image the Creator and become responsible co-creators on life's journey.

  1. This is the sad truth of an unevolved human BEing. We are meant to BEcome so much more. We fail for we do not know what to ask for, how to seek and how persistent must be our knocking on the doors of the Kingdom of Heaven. Keep speaking truth. Shalom.
